Do You Qualify?
How do you know if you qualify for bariatric surgery? Your body mass index (BMI) is a good indicator. You use your height and weight to determine your BMI. The higher your BMI, the greater your risk of diseases such as hypertension, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and sleep apnea.
To calculate your BMI, enter your information into the BMI Calculator below.
If your BMI is greater than 40, or greater than 35 and associated with an obesity-related medical condition like diabetes, sleep apnea, or high blood pressure, you may be a good candidate for bariatric surgery. If your BMI is greater than 35, you may have an obesity-related medical condition you are unaware of, so bariatric surgery may still be an option.
Contact your doctor to see if bariatric surgery may be for you, or call the Center for Bariatric and General Surgery at 610-776-4928 to find out more.
