Volunteer Opportunities

Why Volunteer?

Let’s start with you…studies say that volunteering is good for your mental and physical health. Meaningful and rewarding volunteer work can add balance and perspective to your life. Meet people, learn new skills, receive positive feedback about a job well done—it will do wonders for you and the people you are helping.

Do you want to meet new people?
Want to acquire new skills?
Are you considering your plans for unretirement?
Want to feel you are making a measurable difference?
Are you planning on going to college or medical school?
Are you considering a job change?

These are all good reasons to consider a volunteer opportunity in healthcare.

About Our Volunteers

Sacred Heart volunteers come from virtually every town in our community and represent a variety of diverse backgrounds. They are new residents, homemakers, high school and college students, teachers, attorneys, retirees, professionals, clergy, dogs, performers, couples and former patients.

How Can You Help?

Daytime, evening and weekend opportunities are available. You may donate your time at the bedside, in offices, or in the community. Some people volunteer every week and some volunteer for special projects and events only. Some volunteers can only commit to a few months. These are volunteer opportunities to fit every lifestyle and interest.

For example, you can:

Greet and escort patients and visitors.
Be a liaison for patients and families.
Serve on an event planning committee.
Bring good cheer and comfort gifts to patients.
Help at a special community event.
Assist parents and staff on a nursing unit.
Serve customers in the Tower Gift Shop.
Provide data entry and clerical support.
Entertain patients with music, clowning and magic.

This is just a sampling of volunteer assignments. After reviewing your volunteer application and meeting with you personally, we will find an opportunity that matches your skills, interests and availability with Sacred Heart’s needs.
