Pastoral Care Services

The Pastoral Care Department of Sacred Heart Hospital focuses on the spiritual well-being of patients and staff. The members of the Pastoral Care Department support the hospital's philosophy of total comprehensive care. The Chaplains provide spiritual care, particularly through prayer and sacramental ministry; they assist patients to cope with life's problems and counsel with proper discretion, patients and their families, as well as members of the hospital staff.

All chaplains have completed the necessary Clinical Pastoral Education units and are certified through the National Catholic Chaplaincy Association. They are assigned to specific units throughout the hospital so that each patient is visited initially and as follow-ups on a daily basis. Holy Communion is available to each patient everyday.

The chapel, located on the first floor to the right of the lobby, has its own closed TV circuit, Channel #25. Spiritual videos can be seen at varying time throughout the week, and spiritual hymns as background music is on most of the day. Mass is celebrated each weekday at 3:30PM and can be seen on channel 25. Sunday Obligation Mass is celebrated at 4:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM on Sunday. These masses are also televised on channel 25.
