Cardiac Services
Sacred Heart Hospital's cardiac rehabilitation services are designed
to help patients with heart disease recover faster and return to full and
productive lives. Our professional team of cardiologists, exercise physiologists
and nurses individualize programs for patients recovering from cardiovascular
events. Inpatient, outpatient and maintenance programs are offered to facilitate
a complete recovery and to safely return patients to an active lifestyle.

You may be ELIGIBLE for cardiac rehabilitation if you:
- Have heart disease
- Have had a heart attack or angina
- Have had coronary bypass surgery or a balloon catheter procedure (angioplasty
and/or stent)
Levels of rehabilitation include:
Inpatient: Education for the patient and family following
a cardiac event, and progression to a low level of activity before being
discharged.
Outpatient: Supervised, telemetry-monitored exercise and
education program. The focus is on improving cardiovascular endurance and
increasing awareness of how to reduce coronary risk factors. Exercise sessions
are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Maintenance: After completing monitored exercise, patients
may continue unmonitored exercise when the fitness facility is available.
This level focuses on self-assessment skills and making independent choices
in an exercise program.
How Do I Get Started?
- Participants obtain referral for the program from their physician.
- Patients are responsible for verifying insurance coverage.
- Results from your exercise electrocardiogram and other medical records
are forwarded to the cardiac rehabilitation department.
- An initial consultation is scheduled with a member of the cardiac rehabilitation
staff.
