Director of Staff Development Receives Leadership Award

ALLENTOWN – Sacred Heart Hospital is proud to announce that Linda Scott, RN, MSN, CCRN, Director of Staff Development at Sacred Heart Hospital, is the recipient of the Sigma Theta Tau, Theta Ro Chapter Leadership Award. Scott was honored on Friday, April 24 at a ceremony at Cedar Crest College in Allentown. Sigma Theta Tau International is the honor society of nursing; Theta Ro is the local chapter at Cedar Crest College.

Scott earned a B.S. in Nursing from Albright College in 1979 and an M.S. in Nursing from St. Francis DeSale (now DeSales University) in 1999. She belongs to the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and Sigma Theta Tau International.

Scott achieved certification in critical care nursing (CCRN) in 1985 and became a critical care instructor and resource nurse. She also became a basic life support (BLS), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) instructor. She became certified in peripheral inserted central catheter (PICC) placement in 1994. She has held various positions including treasurer and president in the Lehigh Valley chapter of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (LVAACN).

Scott came to Sacred Heart Hospital as a medical/surgical clinical educator in 2004 and later assumed the role of clinical nurse specialist in 2006. She was named Director of Staff Development in 2008 and in this role is responsible for planning education and orientation for Sacred Heart Hospital employees.
