Sacred Heart Hospital Honors Volunteers at Annual

Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

ALLENTOWN, PA - To honor all the volunteers at Sacred Heart Hospital for their dedication and service, a Ceremony and Luncheon Celebration was held in Sacred Heart Hospital’s Conference Center on April 14, 2011.  Four volunteers, Grace Carr, Barbara Edwards, Ferne Kushner, and Josef Schmidt, each received the Presidential Lifetime Service Award for their commitment to volunteering over a lifetime.  Volunteers receiving this prestigious award must be nominated by a registered organization and must complete over 4,000 hours of volunteer service during his/her lifetime.  The four volunteers also received Certificates of Achievement from U.S. Senator Pat Toomey, U.S. Representative Charlie Dent, PA Senator Pat Browne, PA Representative Jennifer Mann, PA Representative Julie Harhart, and PA Representative Joseph Brennan according to the volunteer’s district.

Several other volunteers were honored for their years of service and number of hours with Sarah Hanna topping the list at 50 years and over 32,500 hours!  Proclamations of thanks were also sent by Governor Thomas Corbett and Mayor Ed Pawlowski.  A special tribute video of the volunteers was compiled by Dave Stoltz to begin the ceremony followed by a standing ovation from the management group of Sacred Heart Hospital.  After the presentation, the celebration concluded with songs of praise by Les Chanteurs from Freedom High School.

Since April 1, 2010, over 225 adults and students completed over 31,000 hours of volunteer service at Sacred Heart Hospital.  This truly shows the commitment and dedication volunteers have at Sacred Heart Hospital.
