Wound Care Treatment Types

Treatment TypesAt the Comprehensive Wound Healing Center, our expert team of wound care specialists creates an individualized treatment plan to fit your unique needs. Your treatment plan may include any of the following:

  • Laboratory studies
  • X-rays
  • Vascular studies
  • Surgical debridement to remove infected tissue and bone
  • Antibiotic therapy
  • Application of specialty dressings or ointments
  • Use of crutches, wheelchairs, or other off-loading techniques
  • Nutritional supplements or counseling
  • Physical therapy
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

A treatment plan is developed by a specially trained wound care physician and may involve local wound debridement, specialized topical wound care, local edema control, local and systemic antimicrobial therapy, revascularization or angioplasty, and/or hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

When appropriate, patients may receive diabetic counseling or smoking cessation support. Patient nutritional and rehabilitation needs are also addressed. When requested by your referring physician, the Comprehensive Wound Healing Center’s wound care specialists can also assist in arranging recommended medical and surgical physician consultations.
