Lung & Respiratory Services

Respiratory Care Department at Sacred Heart HealthCare System offers a variety of non-invasive diagnostic testing to determine the progression of certain lung conditions such as asthma or emphysema. By assessing lung volumes, capacities, rates of flow, and gas exchange, pulmonary function testing enables your physician to evaluate your breathing, diagnose your condition, recommend appropriate treatment, and evaluate your progress.

Testing is offered in a state-of-the-art laboratory by a certified pulmonary function therapist, and tests are interpreted by a board certified pulmonologist.

Tests/services include:

  • Simple spirometry
  • Pre- and post-bronchodilator studies
  • Body plethyography
  • Diffusion capacities
  • Lung volumes
  • Arterial blood gases
  • Bronchial challenge
  • Exercise-induced asthma
