The Parish Nurse Program at Sacred Heart Hospital is at the core of our community hospital’s mission. The hospital aims to aid in health and well-being through medical and holistic practices to all those in need, regardless of economic standing and our nurses are out in the community doing just that. A presence in local soup kitchens and shelters, our nurses administer medical procedures such as monitoring blood pressure, but also provide financial aid by giving out bus tickets for our community members to get to work, or to help them purchase needed prescriptions that they cannot afford on their own. The funds used by our nurses to assist in these small but important matters come from the Bridging the Gap Fund. This fund does just as its name suggests and bridges the gap for our patients when there are holes in their monthly budgets.
“Had it not been for the assistance that they gave me, I would not have been able to get the medication that my child needs for her infection. I was so happy to know that my child will be ok now”
-Bridging the Gap Fund recipient
