menopause and weight gain

Hi All,
I haven't been on here in a while but I just celebrated my 5 year Bari-versary!  I am struggling a bit now and wondered if anyone might have suggestions.  I was thrown into early, full blown menopause thanks to a second suicidal ovary.  If I sit quietly enough, I think I can actually hear the weight crawling onto me.  I have not changed a thing about my habits.  I am panicking because this is the first time I really started to notice any weight gain (tighter pants, stomach bloating, panicking about how I look in everything I put on) and I don't know how to face this issue.  I have not felt this unhappy in 5 years about how I looked. 

I know it's there, no one has said word one but I know and the scale knows and I don't know what to do.  I am not saying I have gained all my weight back or anything like that and it may seem silly but I am talking about 10-15lbs weight gain with NO EFFORT.   I eat like I always have, shoot maybe even less,  but I am honestly panicking about this weight gain.  I worked hard to stay my goal weight or at least in the same arena, for 5 years and now I fell like it is now completely out of my control.  Has anyone experienced this and if so, what worked best for you?

Scully, By no means do I have the answers, but I have learned from various support group meetings, and by reading health magazines that menopause symptoms can include weight gain around the abdomen, night sweats, irregular heartbeats, sleeplessness, hotflashes, etc.

Sleeplessness can contribute to weight gain, so it would be adviseable to work on this component, to regulate sleep better.

If you are exercising daily and following the same regimen, you may have to change things a bit.  Try changing the routine of your meals.  Have dinner for breakfast and vice versa to revv things up.  Count your caloric intake.  Dr. Holland told me 1300-1500 caloriesand I am 3 1/2 years post op.

I already went through menopause and am done, I think!  Anyway, I wish you well.  Maybe someone else has some advice to offer you.

Thank you Nadia!  I truly appreciate your advice!  I have done some more research and I am going to incorporate some more things into my routine so I can hopefully nip this in the bud!!!!!
