it's been 4days since the surgery, and honesty I am regretting it. I am in pain, not from the incisions but from the inside. it hurts when everything goes down and feels so rough. I just really think I should of watched the video of the surgery, then maybe I would have really thought about it. I actually asked my husband if the surgery was reversible. that is how serious I am about having this surgery done. So I guess since I can't change it now I have to do what I still have to do.Ermm

The first week post op is usually the most painful and we get buyer's remorse, thinking "Why did I get this surgery?" and cursing and regretting.  Well, the good news is that that is very normal.  You are feeling weak post op.  That feeling is the worst the first week out, but things get much better.  By week 2-3, if you are walking and sipping all day long, the gas pains go away and you feel good.

Just be patient.  Yo just had major surgery.  You have to learn all of the rules and start using them the rest of your life.  You should be on the liquid and then soft foods diet.  Please follow the doctor's direction closely.  You will be okay.  Trust me on this one.

JuJu, I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time.  I also have to tell you I regretted the decision initially as well.  I was also in pain, could not swallow or take my vitamins, I could not eat anything as I constantly felt sick and for a very long time regretted ever thinking about the surgery.  Please know this is temporary but talk to Dr. Holland and the nurses.  That is what they are there for.

For me it turned out to be something simple, but not something caught right away so I was in a bit of agony.  I also was going through a very stressful time as my dad was dying and I was helping my mother take care of him so my stress levels were on overload.

Try to do as much walking as you can.  Drink as much as you can, and follow the pouch rules.

If you need to contact me directly, we can talk privately if you are not comfortable here but there are many here who have gone through what you are going through, just be patient with yourself.  Nadia is right, you have just had major surgery, your body will take a little bit to heal.  I am 11 months out. It is a great decision and are there regrets, sure. I wish I had been able to do this on my own, but because I have not been able to, this was the best decision I could make for myself, my husband and most importantly, my children.

Remember why you did this, give yourself time, and remember that you are not alone!!!

thank you Marcey it really means alot to me that there are people on here that I can turn to. Since this is week #2 I am kind of feeling a little better. I am also seeing my body getting smaller, and to tell you the truth that is what I love to see. I guess because I was in so much pain and feeling regretful I just needed to vent... but that you and to Nadia for being here for me. I hope we can meet in person one day at the group meetings. I will be there this Wednesday. Thank you once againBigGrin

Hi JuJu, I will be there on Wednesday so I will see you if you are able to be there.

I am glad you are getting better, and to be honest venting sometimes is the best way to deal with the ups and downs that we will go through.  There is other person who can really understand what we deal with save us who have gone thru it...

You are most welcome and I am thankful you are feeling better.
