I am hoping, I got a call that my surgery was rescheduled for the 9th rather than the 10th due to a scheduling conflict and that is a good thing for me... but also had to get a CT scan of my chest b/c my chest x-ray came back bad... not so good... Did the CT scan, weirdest feeling I've had so far and not looking forward to them telling me I can't have the surgery so I'm waiting on pins and needles to hear...

Say a prayer that everything is okay with the CT Scan b/c that would be the only thing that will hold me back!!

Thanks everyone, you are great and I love this forum, you've kept me sane and I am very comfortable going into the surgery.

Blessings,
Marcey

So far so good. I'm home now, since Tuesday (1/11) and while I have been in a bit of pain, it has not be unbearable.  I try to drink all day long, every time I wake up so that is good, and the worse was coughing but even that has gotten much better. I cough a little bit but it does not hurt any longer. I keep doing my breathing exercises and walking as much as I can, just in the house so I feel pretty good.

Thank you everyone for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers and Lisa called today to check on me so I am feeling pretty good.  My follow-up is on Friday, January 20th so I will see what is going on at that...

Blessings,
Marcey

Marcey, Good to hear from you.  Use that spirometer for your breathing and sip and continue to walk indoors.  You will start feeling better day by day.

I do feel better day by day, moment by moment.  When I am sick my body tends to go into survival sleep mode so I have been having to wake up and walk right away otherwise I am one of those who sleeps myself better and that is not the way to treat this as it is not an illness but a better way of life.

The sipping is hard but I am getting better at it. Mostly because I am still trying to understand the fullness feeling, but I did have that feeling when I was taking the pain meds and sipping in the hospital so I am keeping that feeling at the forefront.

Can anyone tell me when you might have had your first food craving?  I am coming to an understanding that craving is more mental than anything else, but when did you first feel hungry for food, and how did that work for you?  I know I have to no move to the post surgical as this is out of place and I will try to remember that for future discussions.

Blessings,
Marcey

During the first year post op (honeymoon phase), I had no food cravings.  At about 14 months, my appetite started coming back.  I am cautious by nature and decided to always weigh and measure my foods and only to eat healthy natural foods (unprocessed) and to seldom eat out by choice.   I keep a thorough food and exercise journal.  Exercise is not a option for me, it is a must do daily.   This has made me successful thus far.

The diary or journal of exercise, food intake, beverages and how you are feeling and even bowel movement or lack of notes help because if you are sick and have to go to the doctor, he will ask what you ate.  This way you know every morsel of food that you intake because it is documented.  You can determine if a certain food made you sick, etc.
