Hello everyone! I had my surgery on 8/2/11 with Dr. Holland. Was Discharge from the hospital yesterday evening. Right after surgery was i in pain!!! They tried to lay me down but that hurted too much. Had great nurses who helped me and had me sit on a recliner. Which was alot better. On top of the pain my lilttle monthly friend came too! So as you all can image not only am i sore but cramps and so forth--yuk! My husband is so great, he helped me take a sponge bath and  stood with me all day! The nurses from the office came down and they are not only the most helpful but they had me laughing so much i thought i would pop a suture! What more can i ask for, we have such a great support staff at the office. So now i'm home and feeling really sore, i'm walking around the house as much as i can and sipping lots of water. Not hungry at all just tired and weak. I hear that everyday you should feel better, so i hope so! Ive been using an ice pack on the one side of my stomach that hurts the most and boy does that feel better. So here i am at home sitting around and walking around trying to get better asap! I thank everyone for thinking of me and having me your prayers! Again thanking everyone for such a great support, i dont know what i wouldve done with out you all and the staff ant dr. Hollands office. My family is not supportive and i really needed this! So thank you all very much! As they say no pain no gain! So to the new me.....................Smile

Here is my update, my highest weight 268.0 and right before sugery that morning was 240.2!!

Oh, Rosie, I'm so happy for you!!!! I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you were doing. Yes, you will feel better every day that passes. And how exciting will it be when you're able to get on the scale and start seeing your loss. Actually, the numbers on the scale didn't affect me nearly as much as how different my clothing fit! My barriversary is next month and to date, I've lost about 121 pounds from my very first visit. What a great life! BigGrin
You're probably also feeling very bloated and uncomfortable from being "blown up" for your surgery. I couldn't wait to get home a few weeks ago after my hernia repair b/c I figured after two days of broth and SF pudding I HAD to lose weight....I gained 10 pounds virtually overnight! It was from everything they inserted to operate and within a week I passed it! But it still sucks that you have to deal with your monthly. That boat sailed a looong time ago for me! (thank God).
Keep up the good work, walk, chew, drink, walk, chew, drink, walk...well, you get the picture! Laugh And keep reminding yourself, "it's all good!" And kudos to your hubby! I have seen too many people whose significant other was threatened by the changes of their loved one. Sounds like you have a keeper. As for your nay-sayers, they should change their tune when they see how much happier you are. If not, they may have issues of their own they should address. Hang tough!

I spent the first 2 or 3 nights sleeping in a chair at home before I even attempted to lie down on a bed.  And then the next 2 or 3 nights I would lie for a while, then sit in a chair for awhile, lie down awhile, back and forth.  My apartment was a 2nd floor one, so it was very slow getting up to it when I got home from the hospital.

Dear Rosie,  Wow!  I cannot believe that you are posting already.  Thanks for the update.  You are walking, sipping and in some pain especially on the left side incision.  (That's where the camera was inserted for the laproscopic surgery.  No wonder it hurts.)  Take a day at a time.  You will start to feel better next week.   During the first week you will be on the sippy diet and you will not want to eat, but may feel weak.  But sipping water is vital so that you do not become dehydrated.  As your body recovers and you get stronger, in about a week, you will be on soft foods and progress from there.

Your husband is a wonderful man because he is standing by you and helping you during this time instead of feeling threatened by your desire to change your life and achieve good health for yourself.   I truly applaud him.  He is a hero.  And you dear Rosie are a strong woman.  You will get through the pain of this week.  Remember that this pain is only temporary.  As the gas leaves your body, you will feel much better.  It takes a good week for that to happen.

Still---I am amazed that you lost 28 pounds before your surgery.  That is phenomenal, Rosie.

As you recover, let us know how you are doing.  If you need any additional information as you go along, just post here or send a personal email.

P.S.  The recliner worked best for me too.

3rd day out!  Tongue Yes i am very sore still but everyday is getting better, still not sleeping as much since i cant sleep in bed and the chair is getting to my behind! lol My great husband went out and bought me a huge leather recliner!  KissNow last last was the best sleep i got because of him! I am truely bless. Not only is he understanding yet he pushes me to be a better person. We went for a slow but long walk around the block last night and going to do the same today. I'm drinking more fluids now i can  hold down 2-3 oz of broth, water. So i'm walking around the house every few hrs and relaxing as much as i can. The only problem i have is jello! Yuk! Crazy  for some reason the smell and the texture is just gross for me! Wonder if anyone felt the same? Well so you all know 3day down and the going strong! Thanks again for all the advise and support! BigGrin

Good Morning Rosie!  Rosie is resting in style in her new leather recliner which her adoring and attentive husband bought her!!!

In the beginning, I had some trouble sleeping at night.  I took little cat naps throughout the day and got through the insomnia.  I am not sure what caused it, (the pain or recovery from surgery) but it got better in a few days.

Everybody says that their taste changes after surgery.  It seems that whatever foods/beverages they liked prior to surgery they may not like post op.  So sugarfree jello does not agree with you.  In addition to broth, how about Crystal Light lemon or other flavors?

My favorite 2 things in the hospital were the slighty salty chicken and beef broth and lemon Crystal Light.

I am glad that on day 3 you are getting stronger Rosie.  As you forge ahead, you can compare the pain from several days ago to the present day, and you will notice less and less.
