Hi, everyone! It was great to meet some of you and put faces to names at last week's support group. Thank you for the advice about where to check out different low-carb protein mixes. Today I discovered Vitamin World at our local Stroud Mall. Bonus...there's a sale, however, it's only til tomorrow. If you buy specified protein mixes, they're BOGO 1/2 price. Plus if you spend over $20, you can become a "member" and get additional coupons and offers. I bought an unflavored mix to add to soup, etc, and I got a coupon with my receipt for BOGOF next time. Woohoo! Anyway, like I said, it's only til tomorrow, but it may be worth looking into! Have a great week!

Cool! Thanks for getting the info on here...and glad you are finding stuff that works for you! Just make sure that the unflavored powder that you got is heat stable, otherwise it like curdles when it is put in hot stuff. I have been into the local Vitamen Shop a few times (there is one on Macarthur Rd), but I still prefer GNC. They have many of the same products, the same kinds of sales, and also have a gold membership that saves us a great deal of money. The other bonuses to GNC, for me, are that they are usually ready with samples in store if I ask (they will shake up a cup of protein mix for me to try right there...), there are more of them, and they allow opened returns for any reason! To be fair, I haven't tried returning anything to Vit Shoppe...
Anyway, a great store, and they were having a great sale. Woot!

Oct.16, 2010- Woman's 5K Classic in just under 45min! Amazing considering my first 5k in April '10 (pre-surgery) took nearly 2hours!
Next "mini" goal on my way to my current ultimate goal of completing an Olympic Triathlon- another 5K TBA with a finish goal of under 40min!

Hi Heather- I took a look at the sample you gave to Lisa H. Those seem to be mostly sodium and some vitamins. If you are taking multivits you probably don't need them. I didn't know GNC will give you samples of protein shakes. Great to know! Lisa

Good to know, Heather. Thanks for the heads up about GNC. They may have one at the Stroud Mall too, so I'll have to check it out there. Samples are good...free samples, even better!

That's great to know about GNC. I haven't been in there, but I am now more willing to try.
