Question about Protein

I was wondering, when I first had the surgery once I started feeling better I had a great deal of energy, was able to get up very early sometimes 4 am (hated that time before) and was in bed by about 8 or 9 pm.  But during the day I was not sleepy.

Now, I seem to be tired all the time.  I've been able to eat more protein, have protein shakes and other forms of proteins since I do not eat meat much at all but I guess my question is can a person overdose on protein and can it have a reverse effect - i.e., making me tired all the time?

Just a question as I've not really ever had this before so I'm reaching out to anyone who might know.

Thanks,

Marcey,  I am curious...   Do you incorporate any natural grains for good carbohydrates?  Natural grains, such as oatmeal, barley, oats, millet, buckwheat/kasha?

Good carbs give us fuel and energy.

A meal would be 1/2 cup protein, 1/4 c. grain (good carb) and 1/4c. veggie or fruit if you are post-op 1 year or so.  Just a thought.

Others feel free to chime in, especially dietitians.

Yes I eat oatmeal and a "cream of wheat" type cereal every day.
