It has been a wild ride learning to live with a pouch!  After the healing process you feel so good sometimes I forget to eat properly.  Like Thanksgiving Day - ate properly at lunch, then because of  visiting, came home late was very hungry and ate too fast and didn't chew properly, was up all night vomiting.

Even though I have tried to educate myself on the do's and don'ts of the pouch, it will let me know if I made a wrong choice, like not cutting my medication, eating too fast, or eating the wrong thing!

Thanks to Dr. Holland, his office staff, and the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital I have lost 41 pounds, my blood pressure is down and my blood work is not the mess it was before surgery.

Dr. Holland's staff helped me through the whole process, questions I had, blood work and testing I needed, and believe it or not the short visit with the psychologist gave me a lot to think about! The dietician helped with questions I had about the vitamins and what to and not to eat.  All meetings were private and INDIVIDUAL! Unlike other local programs, where you are made to feel like a herd of animals gathering together for group meetings with the professionals, who sometimes seemed rushed.  In addition, there always seems like one or two people who always dominate the meetings.  Individual treatment from medical professionals is what I needed for my surgery.

The group support meetings are fun, relaxed and enlightening!  There is the place to share your stories, recipe's, and talk to others about their upcoming or past surgeries.

Again, Dr. Holland, thank you so much for saving my kidneys, because of my past kidney problems, I feared I would go into renal failure one day because of my weight and high blood pressure.  Thank you for giving me my life back!

Sincerely,

Caroline Herstich
