Do you know who the fastest runners on this planet are???

They are the Tarahumara Indians from the remote areas of the Copper Canyon in Mexico.  The Tarahumaras run barefoot and they have to be quick to chase an animal for meat.  The Tarahumaras are known for their speed.

Thus, some enterprising folks and the Vibram company invented the Minimalist shoes that you see me wearing in the above photograph.  These shoes provide comfort since each toe has its own space and the toes are not bunched together as they can be in some shoes.

When a runner runs, usually he/she strikes heel to toe or toe to heel; however with minimalist shoes, the contact is in the mid foot.  Interesting difference.  I am experiencing it firsthand.

Anyway, my injured/sprained toe is recovering as it likes its own space!

I purchased my Vibram Minimalist Shoes at READY SET RUN in Stroudsburg, PA.  Most running stores and sports stores carry them; however, they are not cheap---about $100.

I've seen a few companies release shoes that are similar to those. I wondered how comfy they were. I think many of the companies put the last two toes together. Either way they are still unique. I am glad that you and your toe like them. I will have to look into them.  I do have a question, Do you wear toe socks with them or do you go sockless? Thanks for the input.

Carey, My barefeet are comfortable in these minimalist shoes; however, they also sell toe socks at the sports stores.  In Stroudsburg, that would be READY SET RUN on Main Street across the street from Kentucky Fried Chicken and next door to Sherry's Sweet Shop.

It's funny, I drive past there almot daily and I didn't even realize that there was a "new" store there. I will have to pay more attention to these things. Thanks again for the info.

Ready Set Run just opened its doors on June 4th.  They used to be Aardvark Sports Shop in town by Starbucks; however they moved to the intersection of route 191 with Main Street and are across the street from KFC.  Tricia D'Imperio is the new owner.  She was the manager at Aardvark Sports Store in town.  They will need to get a better window display to attract people.
