Before committing to gastric bypass surgery, you should call your insurance company and verify that you will have health insurance coverage for Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass. Most insurance cards will have a “benefits line” phone number on the back. Call that number and ask if you have the benefit for the procedure code: 43644, which is the Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass code.
Most insurance companies require a six-month authorization process while others do not set such timed requirements. Some may require that you go to a particular facility to have your surgery. Others may ask that you fulfill more requirements if you go to a facility that is not a Center of Excellence. Sacred Heart Hospital is certified through the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as a Center of Excellence, in addition to being a Blue Cross Blue Shield Center of Distinction. We are also certified by other insurances for bariatrics so be certain to check your benefits for the facility that is best for you. |
